Sun Island Bali Food & Beverage Competition 2016


In conjunction with the anniversary, Sun Island Bali group held annual Food & Beverage competition on October 28-29, 2016 at White Rose Kuta Resort. As for this year, the competition featured only three branches, namely 'Bartender Competition', 'Sommelier Competition', and 'Cooking Competition'.

Four properties of Sun Island Bali, i.e., Sun Island Hotel Kuta, Sun Island Hotel & Spa Legian, Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa Seminyak, and White Rose Kuta Resort, Villas & Spa competed in the series of competition. Accordingly, sixteen (16) Food & Beverage staffs of Sun Island Bali properties were participating to achieve medals for their respective properties.

'Bartender Competition' required participants to make cocktails of their own recipes and present it creatively. As for this competition, Acep from White Rose Kuta Resort, Villas & Spa was awarded a gold medal for his solid, down-to-earth cocktail. Meanwhile, Adit from Sun Island Hotel & Spa Legian became a runner-up after his enchanting juggling performance stole jury's attention.

'Sommelier Competition' as known as Wine Steward compeition was held for the first time in Sun Island Bali's Food & Beverage Competition. In this competition, participants were to demonstrate how to serve wine in formal manner. Jose from Sun Island Hotel Kuta came as the eventual winner and Diah, the only female participant, from Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa Seminyak was the runner-up.

In 'Cooking Competition', two cooks from each property were required to cook two dishes: an appetizer and main course from gourami (carp fish). In the end, Suwitra and Wahyu from Sun Island Hotel & Spa Legian came as the eventual winner.
