Frangipani Flowers and the Balinese people cannot be separated. This flower is locally known as “jepun” flower. If you travel to Bali, there are so many Frangipani Flowers that blooming everywhere especially in every temples. In Bali, the people really appreciate flowers as nature entity that has a specific strength. Such a Frangipani Flower, in every Hindus ritual ceremony in Bali, they are always using Frangipani Flower. Not only in Ngaben Ceremony but Frangipani Flowers also really sacred as a communication means in every chances of Bali daily life. It is often used in offerings, religious ceremonies (Hindu), or decorations.

Based on the philosophy of Hindu Religion, The Frangipani Tree will bloom when “Sasih Kapat” or when the forth full moon which means a good month. They are used for indicate the purity of heart when worship Sang Hyang Widi Wasa, the ancestors and the sage (spiritual teachers). There are many colors of Frangipani Flower with different symbol, such as:

1.Yellow flower as a symbol to worship Hyang Widhi with appellation “Mahadewa” or “Siwa” that has strength of Nagapasa.

2. White flower as a symbol to worship Hyang Widhi with appellation “Iswara” that has strength of Badjra.

3. Red flower as a symbol to worship Hyang Widhi with appellation “Brahma” that has strength of Gada.

4. Black Flower as a symbol to worship Hyang Widhi with appellation “Wisnu” that has Chakra Weapon.

However nowadays, people can process Frangipani Flower can be into many products. Dried frangipanis can be ground into a fine powder used as a mixture for making incense, body lotions, and even perfumes and essential oils. Cause a lot of demands, locals have started collecting Frangipanis Flower from their trees and selling them to company. Frangipani is not only beautiful and meaningful, but it helps Balinese people to make a living!
